| Iron Horse Saloon visit 2007 - 20/10/2007 |
|
On Saturday we went along to Ormond Beach and the world famous Iron Horse Saloon. It was a first time for me, but it was well worth the short trip from Daytona despite the long queues to get parked, even though we went early in the afternoon. The overhead timber walk ways and bars in the trees have to be seen to be believed! Live band's play all day, a wall of death, all kinds of great food available at cheap prices, various shops and stalls selling biker gear. Easy Rider magazine supported the event with a selection of custom bikes from many well known American builders. I had to take the opportunity to sit on one of the most famous choppers of all time, as it took me back to my youth and the film that started so many school boys dreams of getting a motorcycle and riding across the USA. The many bars around the venue sold several kinds of ice cold beer with a happy hour, that provided unlimited beer if you bought a large beer cooler mug for just $10 from the Iron Horse merchandise shop, what a bargain!. As you might have guessed I was first inline and made sure I made the most of their kind offer, although it was a struggle, I did my best to show some moderation (yeh right!). The day passed by as all great days should, great location, hundreds of great bikes, very friendly and funny people to share the day with, loads of great tasting food, great music from various bands and as much cheap beer as you can possibly drink. I will definitly be going back again and again. |
