The NEC in Birmingham once again hosted this International event over ten days in November and what a show it was. A Fantastic exhibition that was enjoyed by one and all, well done to all the people that made this year such a success.
It was great to see the custom motorcycle scene so well represented by some truly stunning bikes. Some of which starred on the stands of Carol Nash Insurance, Avon Tyres and of course Back Street Heroes. It has to be said that if you want to draw a big crowd to your exibition stand you need to make sure you have a wild looking motorcycle available because it sure brings them in. The engineering on some of these bikes would be at home at any high tech engineering exhibition you care to mention and they are a credit to the British engineers that built them. The question is how do you build something even better for next year? A big challenge but one I know you guys are already working on.
The Harley Davidson stand was one of the main attractions for people that like to ride their bikes with huge grins on their faces and some fellow bikers that dream of owning one some day soon. The new models drew a lot of interest from young and old riders a like. There was a huge selection of bikes to sit on and admire, especially the ones with limited edition paint jobs. But who ever decided to put the oil cooler on the new XR1200 so far off to the lefthand side? It ruins the modern sleek lines and is asking to be knocked off by the slightest passing glance in a public parking area, let alone a mild road accident! Sorry to be so critical of your new european spec bike Harley, but it needs sorting out. Victory Motorcycles was well represented and proved to be popular with all visitors especially their new tourer that has a front end that should definitly be on an intergalactic spacecraft "Beam me up Scotty"
